Meet three recent scholarship recipients

Obelita is a single mum of one child.

Through Scorched Earth proceeds, she received a scholarship to study International Relations at the University da Paz.

Through hard work and discipline, she graduated, receiving top marks.

Her long-term career goal is to be an ambassador for Timor-Leste.

Domingos is passionate about coffee. He taught hospitality at East Timor Development Agency, ETDA, and won several prizes in Timor-wide barista competitions.

Through fundraising by partner organisation, Wild Timor Coffee, Domingos gained practical experience in Australia. To make the most of his opportunity, Scorched Earth proceeds paid for an international-level barista course for him.

Carlota is a single mum who works hard, is a talented restaurant chef (with long hours and minimal wage), and looks after 4 remarkable children.

Scorched Earth proceeds paid for Carlota’s daughter, Tania’s, tertiary education. Tania studied English and IT, then she will study administration and finance. When she graduates, she wants to work in an office.
